FITNESS INSTRUCTOR -
Become a Fitness Instructor and qualify with a Certificate in Exercise and Health Fitness (CEHF) which is the only University aacredited Fitness instructor qualification in Ireland. It is awarded by the University of Limerick and is placed at Level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework and (NFQ) and Level 5 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)

STAGE 1: CERTIFICATE IN EXERCISE & HEALTH FITNESS (CEHF)
The CEHF is a stand alone qualification and is awarded by the University of Limerick. It is placed at Level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) and Level 5 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The CEHF forms Stage 1 of B.Sc. in Exercise & Health Fitness, which is placed at Level 8 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) and Level 6 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
Recognition: 60 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) Credits towards the B.Sc. Exercise & Health Fitness.
The NCEF is accredited by the European Health Fitness Association (EHFA).
Aim of the CEHF:
Health & Fitness Instructors who hold the CEHF qualification are educated and trained to provide instruction in exercise to music, step aerobics, circuit and resistance training. Equally important is their ability to assess fitness levels and to plan safe, effective and enjoyable exercise programmes for individuals or groups of all abilities. CEHF qualified instructors make a positive contribution to health and well being by encouraging and motivating adults of all ages to pursue physically active lifestyles, to eat healthy food and to manage stress effectively.
Employment and Educational Opportunities:
The CEHF graduate predominantly gains employment
as a group fitness instructor and /or as a gym instructor in gyms and fitness clubs,
some of which are hotel based or in community settings. Many NCEF Exercise & Health
Fitness Professionals are owners or operators of their own facilities.
Freelance employment is often an option with opportunities to operate as an NCEF instructor and/or advisor to local groups, sports teams and corporate fitness & wellness programmes.
CEHF students complete a module of work experience which often leads to employment following qualification. NCEF instructors have secured employment in the UK, Europe, Australia and in the U.S.
CEHF graduates may also wish to continue their education by completing the Diploma/B.Sc in Exercise and Health Fitness B.Sc in Exercise and Health Fitness
