Being healthy and fit is great, but being an accredited fitness trainer is on a whole new level. Think about it for a second. You get to keep fit, help others improve their health and earn a living in the process. It does not get any better than this.
However, the adult fitness niche has way too much attention. Competition is pretty high, and the bar keeps going higher every other year. Exercise play, on the other hand, offers more opportunities.
With screens taking up most of the children’s time, the need for structured exercise programs for kids is growing fast.
What is the NCEF?
For those who might not know, the NCEF is the only university accredited health and fitness tutor training in Ireland. Students can get a certificate, higher certificate, diploma or degree awarded at levels 6, 7, 8 on the NFQ. And they learn more than just physical fitness. The course includes integrating learning games for 5 year olds from platforms such as MentalUP.
NCEF Year 1
On your first year at NCEF, you learn everything needed to supervise and instruct on a gym floor. That includes cardio, free weights and machine weight areas along with group exercise classes. You’ll also get training on how to assess fitness levels and how to design exercise programmes for different levels. A crash course on first aid is also included in this class.
NCEF Year 2
While the second year is optional, this is what makes you a professional. Think of it as the master’s level training for the health and fitness niche. You get to specialise in areas such as personal training, conditioning athletes, and corrective exercise. It is also the point where you can choose to work exclusively with children’s fitness.
With this training, you can demand premium prices from clients and win jobs in prestigious establishments.
