Continuing Professional Development

There are many pathways for an NCEF Graduate. The aim of NCEF Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is to maintain, enhance and extend your professional competencies as a Health & Fitness Professional in a way that is relevant to your own specific needs in the context of your current and potential future roles.

The fundamental value of CPD is that it provides you with the opportunity to evaluate your current skills and competencies, decide what pathways you wish to take, both professionally and vocationally and then take practical and positive steps to optimally enhance your future. By taking part in the NCEF CPD scheme you are making a significant investment of time and resources into your own professional development that will in the long term enhance your career in the Fitness, Health & Recreation Industries.

NCEF Continuing Professional Development is available to assist you in maintaining the highest standards in your work as a H/ F professional and to increase your awareness of changing trends and advances in research in this area.

Continuing Professional Development Scheme includes:

1. Diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness Pathway

2. NCEF/UL Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Scheme

3. NCEF/UL Stage 2 Specialist Modules

4 NCEF Recertification Scheme (available for all NCEF graduates prior to 2006)

5. Fitness Professionals Ireland (FPI)

6. National Fitness News Publications

7. NCEF National Convention

The Diploma pathway provides an opportunity for aspiring exercise & health fitness professionals to follow a pathway from certificate at NFQ Level 6 to diploma at NFQ Level 7 by accumulating European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits on a stage by stage basis. Further opportunities to progress from the NCEF Diploma in Exercise and Health Fitness (DEHF) to NFQ Level 8 in Exercise & Health Fitness and/or related areas at third Level in Ireland are currently being researched and developed by the NCEF
