Stage 2 Team Sports Fitness


This is a Specialist Module in Stage 2 of the Diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness. Applicants who register for the diploma programme may take this module as one of their options (See Diploma Pathway)

Recognition:
ECTS credits towards the Diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness (DEHF). The DEHF is awarded by the University of Limerick and is placed at Level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).


Aim:
The aim of this module is to provide an understanding of the key concepts, theories and practical application of team sports fitness training and performance with. The Team Sports Fitness Specialist will be capable of providing safe, effective & appropriate fitness training programmes that will enhance both squad & individual performances.


Module Details:

This module will involve 48 contact hours (4 weekends) combined with assigned work experience, project work and private study. Assessment will be a detailed case study working with a sports team over a number of weeks.

Requirements:

(A) Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness (CEHF) Graduates:
Completed NCEF/UL application form.Curriculum Vitae outlining your work experience in the industry. First Aid Certificate

(B) PEAI/NCEF graduates from 1987-2006 or those with equivalent qualifications:
Previously qualified NCEF Level 1 Instructors (or those with equivalent qualifications) are eligible to apply for entry on to this Module through the NCEF/UL RPL Scheme.

(i) Recertified NCEF Level 1 Instructors - please submit
Completed NCEF/UL application form.First Aid Certificate

(ii) Non - Recertified NCEF Level 1 Instructors and instructors who hold qualifications other than NCEF - please submit
Completed NCEF/UL application form. of Learning (POL).The portfolio is an official NCEF/UL Portfolio Form which should clearly detail your existing qualifications and background based on your previous learning and experience in the Health/Fitness Industry. (This POL Form is available from NCEF Head Office). All relevant documentation must be submitted with this form.

First Aid (OFA) is an NCEF & industry requirement. candidates on the above programme must provide a current OFA Certificate prior to completion.

Unit 3: Programming for Peak Performance in Squad Training Exercise and Fitness

  • Plyometrics and Power

  • Annual Training and the Competition Plan
  • Tapering and Peaking
  • Burnout
  • Sports Analysis



Unit 4: Applied Squad Training and Case Studies in Exercise and Fitness

  • Work Placement with a Sports Team
  • Observation & Evaluation of Sessions
  • Part-Teaching & Full-Teaching of Sessions
  • Gain insight into working in the area of Team Sports Training
  • Improve Interpersonal Skills, Attitudes and Abilities to interact with Groups & Individuals in a professional manner.
  • Develop awareness of strengths and areas to work on within Team SportsSelf-evaluation.

Fees: NNR Members: €1100.00 Deposit: €700.00 on acceptance. Balance of €400 due one week prior to module commencement
Non NNR Members: €1130.00 Deposit: €700.00 on acceptance. Balance of €430 due one week prior to module commencement

(Please note CSN is ONLY hosting the course. You will not be students of the college)

Tutors:Tutors hold the Diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness (DEHF) or equivalent qualifications. A significant number of NCEF Tutors are also graduates in disciplines closely related to Exercise and Health Fitness. Many of these tutors are teaching and/ or conducting research in the areas of Education, Physical Education, Sport & Exercise Science and Recreation Management.


This Module will earn PEAI/NCEF holders 850 Continuing Education Credits (CEC's). An extra 150 CEC's are available on successful completion of assessment requirements.
All CEHF graduates on the Diploma pathway will be awarded 30 ECTS Credits.
