CONTINUING EDUCATION- Progress your fitness instructor qualification to Diploma or Degree
If you hold the Certificate in Exercise and Health Fitness (or equivalent) then continue your education by  completing the Diploma/B.Sc in Exercise and Health Fitness NFQ Level 7/8. The purpose of  the Diploma/B.Sc is to provide an opportunity for aspiring exercise & health fitness professionals to follow a pathway from Certificate, to Diploma to Degree by  accumulating European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits on a stage by stage basis.

Entry Requirements:
 

  1. Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness (CEHF) or equivalent.
  2. 60 ECTS Credits at Stage 2 DEHF (with Personal Training as compulsory requirement), or their equivalent.
  3. OFA Occupational First Aid (OFA) is an NCEF & industry requirement. All candidates on the above programme must provide a current OFA Certificate on application.
  4. Experience: Minimum two years practical experience working in the Health/Leisure/Fitness industry or in an area relevant to the role of an NCEF Tutor (e.g. teaching at further or higher education in a relevant field).
  5. Knowledge: Broad knowledge base a Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness modules and Stage 2 Specialist Modules.
  6. Attitudes and personal qualities:  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and mature position.
  7. Other desirable criteria:  Teaching experience in any discipline.  Practical experience of working in any of the Stage 2 areas of the Diploma Programme.
  8. Successful Interview: Interviews can be completed via face to face, telephone or skype and  are generally held in late spring/early summer.

 

****NCEF/UL Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Scheme: Previously qualified NCEF Level 1 and Level 2 Instructors and those applicants with equivalent qualifications are eligible to apply for entry on to this programme through the NCEF/UL RPL Scheme. Applicants must complete a Portfolio of Learning with their application.  This portfolio should clearly detail your existing qualification and background.  

 

 

****Please note an Recognition of Prior Learning fee of €125 applies to all applicants required to submit a Portfolio of Learning and on successful acceptance the fee is deducted from the overall programme fee.
